The organization facilitates the exchange of local and indigenous knowledge that counters climate change, biodiversity loss, poverty, and growing inequalities. Thus, one objective is to facilitate knowledge transfers for tomorrow’s sustainable world based around social, environmental, and economic sustainability.

OINS puts human interactions (across borders and cultures) and the sharing of knowledge and practices for sustainable development at the forefront of its activities. By doing so, OINS contributes to cooperation activities between people from different backgrounds and different cultures, fostering a common understanding of the global community through an increased understanding of the “Other” (i.e. international and global understanding) as well as via its work for human (and nature) prosperity in disadvantaged regions.

OINS contributes to a more sustainable usage of the world’s limited resources, which are under strain by climatic changes, overexploitation and biodiversity loss, reducing potential sources of violent conflicts.
